Players should ALWAYS turn up to play unless the MWNA Facebook page advises cancellation

If Northern Beaches Council has closed the grounds via their Website – http://www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/all-sportsfields-and-facilities some games may still proceed on the hard courts.

MWNA Facebook will advise whether any games are cancelled.

Wet Weather Make Up Games
When a week is missed due to Wet Weather- the following week, 2 x half games are played (EXCEPT in PUBLIC SCHOOL HOLIDAYS where they will be played the first game after school is resumed).

The game of the current date is played first half and the wet week the second half of the game. Teams go to the court and time indicated on the date in the official fixtures and are directed on the score sheet to the court for the second half game.
N.B: This format is taken as TWO games for points or loss of points and TWO games played.
Umpires for the current date control the two x half games on their allocated court.

NetSetGo games are NOT made up – they strictly play to the game of the day.

30/30 Lightning Rule

When training at the Curl Curl courts, please be aware of the 30/30 Lightning Rule that MWNA endorses.

To judge how close lightning is, count the seconds between the flash and the thunder clap. Each second represents about 300 metres. If you can count less than 30 seconds between the lightning strike and the thunder, the storm is less than 10 km away and there is an 80 percent chance the next strike will happen within that 10 km. If you count less than 30 seconds, take shelter, preferably in a building or all-metal automobile (not a convertible top) or in a low-lying area.

30 seconds: Count the seconds between seeing lightning and hearing thunder. If this time is less than 30 seconds, lightning is a potential threat. Seek shelter immediately.

30 minutes: After the last lightning flash, wait 30 minutes before leaving shelter. Half of all lightning deaths occur after a storm passes. Stay in a safe area until you are sure the threat has passed.
